I upgraded my home server

How many people out there have a ‘Home Server’? I am probably one of the few who have decided to setup a multi-purpose server in their home. Anyway, I underwent a project to upgrade my server a little bit, I moved over to Nexenta CP, a distribution for Open Solaris. I also added 2 320GB hard drives so I could setup a ZFS RAID-Z file system.

I thought I would share the results:

squallbsr@shion:~$ uname -a
SunOS shion 5.11 NexentaOS_20070621 i86pc i386 i86pc Solaris

squallbsr@shion:~$ df -h
Filesystem size used avail capacity Mounted on
... snip ...
zpool0 819G 30K 626G 1% /zpool0
... snip ...

As you can see above, my server now sports a 819 Gigabyte disk storage pool! I have much, much more space now to load up with Anime, Code and Backups…
